Tagg Pet Tracker: GPS for Dogs
A GPS Tracking Dog Collar
As is the case with most dogs, my dog Dakota has an over abundance of doggie intelligence--not to mention energy. This enables her to find the one weak link to escape the yard or me whenever possible. It isn't that she doesn't love me...she just loves to run. And once she's free, there is no way I can keep up with her.
Enter the Tagg pet tracker attachment for dog collars. With this product, even if she goes for an unauthorized run, I can still find her. That means the world to me.

Is Your Dog a Canine Version Of Houdini?
Able to Escape Any Fenced Area?
For people who have outside dogs--whether or not they are 'contained' in a fenced-in yard or on a chain--this product is essential for the safety of your dog...and the pet-owners peace of mind.
A case in point: My sister and her family used to live out in the country. They owned a large outside dog. Unfortunately their dog was a kleptomaniac. Every morning when they left for work, their dog was in the yard, and every evening when they came home the dog was there too. But then they discovered their dog's hoard. During their hours away from home, the resident doggie thief was traveling the area and collecting "stuff".
Had the Tagg Pet Tracker been available then, at least they would have known where it all was coming from...and where their dog was going! But most of all, they would have been able to track their furry family member on that one fateful evening when they came home to an empty yard.
How the Tagg Pet Tracker Works
The lightweight receiver attaches to your pet's collar. You then go online and enter in a Tagg zone or cyber fence into the Tagg website. This is your dog's home zone. Once you have set this zone, if your dog leaves it, the tracker will alert you via email and text. You can use a map on your computer or cell phone to then track and locate your run-away.
The tracker was designed to fit an energetic dog's lifestyle. You don't have to worry about it getting wet, so if your pet goes for a swim...the system will still be up and running.
Requirements for using the tag pet tracker:
1. An Internet connection
2. A subscription to the GPS tracking service plan by Tagg.
3. A docking station
Each master kit comes with three months of service and a docking system. One docking system can be used for multiple trackers. Additional trackers run $89.95 each and the fee for each additional pet is only an additional $0.95 a month. Less than a dollar a month! (Up to 10 trackers total.)

Some things you need to know about this product:
1. There is a monthly service fee of around $8. However the first 3 months are included in the purchase. If you have multiple pets, your other pets can be added to your service fee for a very minimal cost.
2. This product is designed for animals (cats and dogs) that weigh at least 10 pounds.
3. There is a free Tagg app for Androids and iPhones.
Mixed Breed or Pure-Bred?
Dakota is a german shepherd and border collie mix. I found her through Pet Finder, which I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a pet. I've owned mixed and pure breeds before, but I have to admit my preference (and heart) simply leans more to the mutt. Something about a rescue dog or puppy just gives me a warm glow.
But my Grand-Puppy, Einstein, is a full-blooded Welsh Corgi. Needless to say, I love him, too!
Which is for you: Mixed Breed or Pure-Bred?
A Good Dog Training Book Can Help
I've said before that Dakota is a very high-energy (and intelligent) dog. Sometimes having both in one dog can be trying. It is hard to keep her engaged and out of trouble--especially as I spend so much time on the computer.
So I try to make sure that we spend at least a little quality time each day together, doing something fun for a doggie. (And I work in a little disguised training exercises as well.) If you are interested in spending quality time with your dog, a good dog training book can come in very handy.
If you are a dog owner too, drop us a note and tell us a bit about your dog.
